For me, being a global citizen is not just something that we get to label ourselves due to the fact that we happen to live in a changing, ever-increasingly connected world. It is about being a particular way, having a particular mindset and living out our values.
It is about responsibility, participation and the motivation to create a world that is better for all of us, not just driven by individualistic goals.
Would I go as far as Oxfam in stating that one should also be ‘outraged by social injustice‘? If we don’t start there though, where do we start?

Switching from thinking ‘me, me, me!’ to ‘WE, WE, WE!’ is hard, but mandatory. That mindset shift can only happen with daily practice and reflection.
Here’s a follow up line of inquiry: to what extent are schools responsible for producing and modeling that mindset from the very top tier of administration, down?

Hello Mrs. Wasner it’s Sam. I think you used visuals fantastically in your post. You bolded key words and that is effective in giving the reader your message. I think this blog post will push someones thinking of what a global citizen is because it clearly explains that you should think of other people and do what is your responsibility. I think the documentary ‘Momenta’ would also push your understanding of a global citizen further because this film is a big reminder of the inequality in the world and it can be a useful inspiration to do more. I find your post very intriguing. I agree with you that people need to be determined to try and improve things that are happening which go against global values. I think that your post does a great job at the 100-word challenge and the ideas you discussed were very in-depth despite the limited amount of words. One book that I have recommended for multiple people by now is called ‘Global Citizens: How our vision of the world is outdated, and what we can do about it’ and it explores what being a global citizen is all about.
